Trained as a Geographer at UWA, Simon has worked in a range of areas, mainly associated with spatial data and modelling of environmental issues since 1988.
His activities include:

Spatial multi-criteria analysis using MCAS-S on a range of NRM projects relating to climate change impact assessment, revegetation, and most recently building a tool for state-wide NRM project planning ;

Mapping projects for State and Local Government, and a range of NRM bodies;

Development of a regional revegetation strategy covering the Great Southern Region for Main Roads WA.

Catchment investigations and spatial modeling of land use and nutrient export, including the development of the SSPRED & SPPND nutrient models and decision support systems;

Senior researcher at the Center for Excellence in Natural Resource Management at UWA;

Mapping and modeling work for agricultural nutrient risk mapping;

Spatial dataset creation and editing for Department of Agriculture/Department of Water projects;

Development and running of training programs in ArcGIS, QGIS and MCAS-S;

Development of land use plans;

Investigation of waste management strategies for Local Government.

Pro-bono work for WA Forest Alliance, D'Entrecasteaux Coalition and Denmark Environment Centre.
Simon has a long-term involvement in the voluntary conservation movement, including ten years as a Councillor of the Australian Conservation Foundation (including two years as a Vice-President), and five years as Convenor of the Denmark Environment Centre.
Louise is a sustainability practitioner and facilitator with thirty-five years’ experience in environmental and leadership training, project development and management, facilitation, advocacy and policy development. She is passionate about making sustainability and environmental initiatives happen for positive changes in her home town, WA, and nationally.
Louise currently works mainly as the Lead Facilitator for WELA (Womens Environmental Leadership Australia), and also works part time in the award winning not for profit charitable organisation Green Skills (which she set up and led for 10 years). Louise is also the Chair of Gonwanalink Ltd, the Trustee for the Koorabup Trust, has been the co-Executive Officer for the WA Landcare Network, and was until recently the Chair of the National Landcare Network Members Council.
She has helped steer training and projects in revegetation, environmental tourism, whole farm planning, integrated farm forestry, organic farming, bush products opportunities, catchment restoration, behaviour change for water and energy conservation, landscape-wide restoration, innovative agriculture, deep ecology, home and small business sustainability assessment, and sustainable building technology. She was a director in the pioneering plantation companies National Tree Farming and Integrated Tree Farming (1990/1991) seeking to establish tree products on already cleared land to diversify landholder enterprises and take pressure off native forests. For the past 3 years she has co-facilitation the Women in Environmental Leadership Australia program for environmental leadership development.
Louise is recognized as an initiator, facilitator and networker. Her contributions were recognized when awarded the 2006 Great Southern Development Commission Medal of Excellence in Natural Resource Management. Award monies assisted with funding a six month study tour of sustainable communities, environmental education centers, ecotourism and cultural tourism case studies in parts of Canada, USA, England, Wales, Norway, Denmark, Germany and Nepal May – October 2007.
Her formal studies include a BA in Psychology and English, Special Honours in Energy Policy, PhD in Science and Technology Policy and a Certificate in Workplace Training and Assessment. She believes her best training ground has been the extensive experience and partnerships with others in the field. She is a reference point and mentor for many working in the sustainability/landcare space.
